Books

From 4 cancers, Rathkye brain cyst, chronic cellulitis and lymphedema, a Pontine Stroke, double pneumonia resulting in a medically induced coma among other medical and life challenges before the age of 50,  here's my story. I’ve been working on this book for 8 years now, and can’t wait for you to read it. This book first started out upon wakening from a dream in my hospital bed after suffering a severe stroke thinking "write a book on 'lessons learned'".

Eight years later, I've now come full circle receiving an award from the  2019 Catholic Press Association of America and Canada for my book in the Healing category.

Before his murder in 1996, Richard James Michael Pontes (1962-1996) was an accomplished poet, artist and drummer. He co-founded a band called The Mood with his friend, Arthur Orfanos.

Richard once left me (his twin sister, Regina) a note on a yellow sticky which read, "I'll take the present, you take the future". Little did I comprehend to the extent that this would entail until I had the opportunity to try to share his writings not only with extended family but with friends and people around the world as well. My desire is that your known takeaway from each poem is one of thoughtfulness, hope, and above all, joy for a short life well lived.
